That's what we all want. And Southeast Louisiana's recipe for the good life is unique in the world. But surely we can make our quality of life better-something we are proud and confident to pass on to our children and grandchildren.

On the surface, Greater New Orleans has many of the potential success factors for sailing into the New Economy. And yet we are at serious risk of becoming an economic backwater.

The New Economy is reshaping the world, and we are well positioned to benefit. But we are increasingly at risk of squandering this historic opportunity. We need to reinvent our place in the global community, and we need to start with an earnest assessment of the conditions in our area.

The time to act is now.
